Life story

"Patricia Carol Frederick Gray, 71, of Spotsylvania County, VA, passed away, Monday, June 18, 2018 at Woodbine Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Alexandria, VA. She was born July 10, 1946 in Alexandria, VA to the late, Robert Leon and Berta Irene Davis Frederick.

Patricia grew up in the Occoquan and Woodbridge, VA area. She graduated from Garfield High School in 1965, and worked at Fort Myer Officers Club in Arlington, VA until 1982.

She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church in Spotsylvania; a life member of OWL Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary in Woodbridge, and life member and treasurer of Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department Company 4 Auxiliary.

Patricia enjoyed doing plastic canvas crafts, reading, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Michael Wade Gray; and her children, Elizabeth LaMonds and her husband, Melvin, Whitney Gray, and Michael Gray II, all of Spotsylvania; three brothers, David Frederick and his wife, Artie of Harrisonburg, VA, Alvin Frederick and his wife, Carolyn of Milton, FL, and Richard Frederick and his wife, Kathie of Winona MO; one sister, Shelia Johnson of Pass Christian, MS; three grandchildren, Angelina, Alexis and Robert LaMonds; two great-grandchildren, Trey and Keira LaMonds; and son-in-law, Marvin Buzz Jones, of Spotsylvania; 14 nephews and nieces; and a large extended family, which includes her favorites, Jackabee, Lucky, and Border Jack, Shelle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Leon and Berta Irene Frederick; and a daughter, Stephanie Renee Gray.

A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Spotsylvania Fire/Rescue Company 4, 4804 Bancroft Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, P.O.
