Life story
"Donald Ray Stubbs, 81, of Front Royal, VA went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2018.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 2:00pm at Dynamic Life Praise and Worship Center in Front Royal, VA.
Don was born on March 29, 1936 in Utica, Mississippi, son of Henry & Agnes Stubbs.
Don graduated from high school with a full athletic scholarship to the University of Mississippi. He then joined the Army serving 26 years, including two tours of Vietnam and was a proud member of the 82nd Airborn division. He was awarded the Purple Heart and retired with the Legion of Merit. After retiring from the military, Don worked at Marriott Ranch for 17 years.
He was a loving father, grandfather, dedicated husband and friend. Surviving are his devoted wife, April Stinson Stubbs, two sons, Phillip Stubbs and wife Fran of Triangle, VA and Mark Stubbs and wife Sherri of Jacksonville, NC. And one daughter, Tammy Jones and husband Kenny of Front Royal, VA. Also ten grandchildren, Kristina, David, Joey, Steven, Jenni, Michael, Daniel, Matthew, Julia and Collin; and five great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by both parents, four brothers, five sisters, and one son, Donald Stubbs, Jr.
Don was a true outdoorsman and was a great lover of nature. He was an avid bow hunter and master marksman. Don also used his knowledge to teach Advanced Marksmanship Techniques.
His greatest love was Jesus Christ, his Savior. He faithfully attended and served at Dynamic Life Praise and Worship Center in Front Royal, VA.
Don Stubbs was an amazing, courageous, adventurous man who lived his life with passion and purpose. He was a man of strong faith who ran his race and finished his course with perseverance, excellence and the joy of the Lord. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He made a tremendous impact on so many lives. He leaves a rich legacy of love and will never be forgotten."
